What Size Cutting Board Should You Buy?
A good cutting boards is a kitchen essential. Not only do they protect your countertop but to make food preparation easier and safer. When it comes to size, however, there is no one-size-fits-all. The perfect cutting board size should match your needs and the available space in your kitchen. The Stag’s Ends End Grain cutting boards come in three different sizes (Large, Medium & Small) and while the Edge Grain cutting board comes in a single standard size.
End Grain Cutting Board Sizes
The End Grain cutting boards are available in three sizes: Small, Medium, and Large.
Small Boards – The small boards are 18” long by 12” tall and 1 ¾” thick. They vary in weight from 9 pounds to 11 pounds depending on the density of the wood. Different types of woods have different densities. Small cutting boards are ideal for apartments or kitchens with limited countertop space.
Medium Boards – The medium size boards are 20” long by 16” tall and 1 ¾” thick. They vary in weight from 12 pounds to 15 pounds depending on the density of the wood. Medium cutting boards are great for carving steaks or roasts.
Large Boards – The large cutting boards are 24” long by 18” tall and 1 ¾” thick. They vary in weight from 16 pounds to 20 pounds depending on the density of the wood. Large cutting boards are ideal for preparing meat for several individuals. You can carve an entire turkey or several steaks at once.
Edge Grain Cutting Board Sizes
The Edge Grain cutting boards come in various patterns and colors but only one size. The edge grain cutting board is 18” long by 11”-12” wide depending on the style. All edge grain cutting boards are ¾” thick. The Edge Grain cutting boards each weigh about 6 pounds. Edge Grain cutting boards are ideal for light duty meat carving as well as all other kitchen food prep. Additionally, the Edge Grain cutting boards are perfect for presentation and can double as a charcuterie board for your party or event.
